Post‑Treatment Care
Electrolysis involves the targeted application of controlled electrical currents to individual hair follicles. Each treatment is carefully performed to minimise discomfort and reduce impact on surrounding tissue.
Post‑treatment care is a critical part of your electrolysis journey. Following aftercare instructions helps support healing, reduce the risk of complications, and optimise long‑term results.
Normal Skin Reactions After Treatment
The following reactions are common and temporary:
Redness
Mild swelling
Warmth or tingling
These reactions typically subside within a few hours. Because the hair follicle (pore) is temporarily dilated after treatment, it is more vulnerable to irritation and infection. For this reason:
Use a soothing, antibacterial cleansing and calming lotion
Small crusts or scabs may appear within 24 hours (Scabbing is a normal part of the healing process)
On the face, these usually resolve within approximately 3 days
On the body and lower limbs, they may last up to 15 days
Mandatory Aftercare
To support proper healing, please follow these instructions carefully:
Do not touch, scratch, or rub the treated area
Avoid sun and UV exposure for 48 hours after treatment
Wear a hat if sun exposure is unavoidable
Avoid swimming, sweating, and exercise for 24 hours
Avoid heat exposure, including hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, and sunbeds
If swelling persists, apply a cold compress or a soothing, moisturising lotion
Face‑Specific Care
Apply sunscreen daily while the skin is healing to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation
After 24 hours, makeup may be worn — mineral makeup with SPF is recommended
Do not pick or disturb any scabbing, as this may lead to pigmentation changes or scarring
Avoid tweezing or waxing between appointments
Exfoliate only once redness has fully resolved
Avoid soap, makeup, oily substances, and perfumed or alcohol‑based products for 24 hours
Body‑Specific Care
Apply witch hazel or aloe vera gel to soothe the area
Cleanse with an unscented soap and avoid perfumes for 24–48 hours
Avoid tight or abrasive clothing over the treated area
Restrictive clothing can inhibit healing and increase the risk of folliculitis
Avoid antiperspirants for 48 hours
Avoid alcohol‑based hand sanitiser on treated areas for 24 hours
A warm Epsom salt bath may be used if needed (after the initial 24‑hour period)
