Recommended Skincare
Electrolysis targets individual hair follicles with precision, and every effort is made to minimise impact on surrounding tissue. During your consultation and throughout treatment, your electrologist will assess your skin and consider any contraindications before proceeding.
Any treatment involving the skin requires time to heal, and it’s important to have realistic expectations around healing timeframes.
If you have any existing skin concerns, we encourage you to seek advice from your dermatologist to ensure your skin is well supported while undergoing electrolysis.
During your electrolysis treatment plan, we recommend keeping post‑treatment skincare simple, gentle, and non‑irritating. A fragrance‑free formulation are usually the most effective and best tolerated.
Products do not need to be complex or expensive and should be easy to source from your local chemist or supermarket. Also they must be alcohol‑free, with no active ingredients that could inflame, irritate, or compromise healing skin. Gentle care is best — your skin knows how to heal itself when given the time and conditions to do so.
We recommend light, non‑occlusive cleansers and moisturisers, such as those from Cetaphil or QV, which are widely tolerated and dermatologist approved. Please avoid occlusive products such as Vaseline, as these prevent the natural evaporation of heat from the skin following electrolysis and may interfere with the healing process.
Recommended options include:
Gentle cleansers and moisturisers (e.g. QV, Cetaphil)
Alcohol‑free witch hazel as a natural cleanser
Aloe vera gel as a soothing skin balm
Tea tree oil only if small pimples develop — must be diluted in sterile water and applied sparingly with a cotton pad. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic but can sting or irritate sensitive skin and should be used with caution.
Aloe Vera
Instantly soothes and cools irritated skin
Supports skin repair and hydration
Helps reduce redness and swelling
Witch Hazel
A cooling, soothing astringent that absorbs quickly
Renowned for its natural antiseptic properties
Particularly beneficial for underarms and bikini areas
Can be applied post‑treatment before any prescribed aftercare creams
Avoid touching the treated area
Do not pick scabs
Avoid skincare containing active ingredients
Allow time for gentle healing
